Recently, WSB worked with the City of Shorewood
on reconstruction of the intersection at County State Aid Highway
19, Smithtown Road and Country Club Road, using the OneOffice
Software. The City of Shorewood had identified a need to
improve the existing four-way intersection, as it had been rated
as one of the top ten most dangerous non-signal intersections
within Hennepin County. WSB provided complete engineering
services from start to finish, including a feasibility report,
materials list and bid proposal form; all of which are created
and distributed within the OneOffice software. In addition,
inspection quantities, ten different funding sources and plan
holder tracking was also created and managed for this project,
with the help of OneOffice.
Among the benefits OneOffice provides, WSB’s Jeff Stewart
names the “huge time and cost savings, and elimination of
possible errors” at the top of the list. During the
reconstruction of the CSAH 19 and Smithtown intersection, WSB was
able to inspect quantities and upload inspection data to their
home office through eGram™ without having to leave the construction
site. For this particular project, the construction site
was roughly 18 miles or 30 minutes from the home office. By
using OneOffice each day, WSB was able to save time and fuel expenses
with this feature alone.
During the reconstruction of the intersection,
RTVISION’s OneOffice eGram™ gave WSB the ability
to quickly update their construction project page. WSB’s
project update page has a link within their website, and it allows
the general public to view projects that are open for bid, projects
in construction and projects in preliminary planning. With
eGram™, WSB has the ability to show real-time plan holders’ lists,
contact lists and bid summaries with no re-entry; with only a
click of the mouse. WSB reported that this is a great
time savings for the office support, “because the information
was accessible via our website, it greatly reduced the number
of mail and fax requests.”
Another positive feature Stewart noted is the
elimination of possible errors. With RTVISION’s OneOffice,
pay requests from the material quantities inspected are automatically
created, thus eliminating the possibility of additional information
being added to the payments and preventing costly payment errors. During
the City of Shorewood project, OneOffice was also very beneficial
from a project management standpoint, noted Stewart, “It
(OneOffice) helps, or even forces, inspectors to keep their Item
Record Accounts current.”
With the help of RTVISION’s OneOffice technology,
and WSB’s expertise, ingenuity, and technological savvy
team, the reconstruction of the City of Shorewood intersection
was completed quickly and professionally. This project
was nominated for the Engineering Excellence Award at the ACEC/MN
(American Consulting Engineering Council) annual awards ceremony. |
